'Meet Charlotte Mason'
Who is, or was Charlotte Mason?
If you are a homeschooling parent, you have probably heard of her,
or at least heard of some of her educational writings and
philosophies that she found to be extremely successful with the
students she taught.
But how much do you know about the person herself?
And really, what do you specifically know, or think that you know,
about her? Do you know when she was born? Or what country she
was raised in? How old was she when she began teaching? What made
her even decide to become a teacher? And what type of schooling
could she herself have received when in the 1800s, very few woman
were even allowed to go to school?
These are questions that need to be answered first, in order for you
to really get to know this truly remarkable woman. Perhaps once you
learn more about her, you may find that she is a sort of heroine to
you? Not the kind of heroine that you think of as some “Super Woman”
mythical character, but the kind that the Lord puts in our lives to
encourage us, teach us, and give us strength for the huge task that
we have at hand in raising and teaching our children...“in the way
they should go.” And maybe, just maybe, you will actually feel like
you know her so well that you can actually imagine how it would have
been like to live in her time of history, and to get to know her as
your friend
